PC Farm (Bare metal)

In addition to its cloud solution, DaDesktop can also give you access to physical, bare-metal Desktops or Servers.

This setup is designed for situations where each participant gets their own physical machine, and has been utilized in the following scenarios where participants require access to:

  1. an entire server, unvirtualized, due to performance or licensing constraints (such as ONAP, OpenStack)
  2. hardware that can't be virtualized, like certain GPUs, Mellanox cards where firmware changes are part of the training, and other network devices.

Moreover, this solution can be integrated into an existing physical classroom with only minor adjustments. This enables the instructor to set up the classroom remotely, without having to be physically present.

The Cloud Desktop developed for the cloud can be directly applied and deployed onto the participants' physical machines.

Prerequisites for onsite deployment

To implement this solution, you'll need to buy physical control cables (known as ddnexus), which cost approximately 100 USD per Desktop.

You can test this feature by choosing Metal PC when setting up a Standalone or Fresh-start desktop.
