FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power BI and VBA, is Excel available within DaDesktop (DD)? (Since MS Excel functions are required)

  1. No, MS Office is not provided inside DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). We supply only a DD virtual machine and a training room
  2. Trainers should create a free trial account of MS Office for all delegates
  3. If not, delegates must use their own MS Office accounts

2. Is it possible to copy files from my local desktop over to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we provide a simple method to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. One small limitation is that currently only one file can be transferred at a time. However, it's easy to compress all the necessary files into a zip or archive, which can then be copied over smoothly to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If using a cloud storage system, please don't forget to sign out from your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates

3. Why does text in DD look blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you are using the Chrome Browser, please go to : "chrome://settings/system" to turn off the Hardware accelerate option

4. Can trainers access the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, according to the Terms and Conditions from https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, a trainer cannot access the wiki
  2. If you need to submit edits for the NobleProg wiki, simply copy & paste the content into an email to the trainer, (a PDF is also acceptable)

5. Which domains should we whitelist when using a proxy or content/network filtering to achieve better performance?

Yes! Please whitelist any domains matching this pattern :-

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How do I set up multiple desktops in DD, for instance for Ansible training?

  1. Trainers can begin by configuring DD's resources (RAM, CPUs and Disk)
  2. Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to create multiple virtual machines in DD, and configure networking between the VMs
  3. Once everything is ready, you can clone the setup to delegates in seconds
  4. Please contact DaDesktop Support if you need assistance

7. What are the server capacity limits?

  1. It depends on the server hardware
  2. For example: 512GB RAM can be used as 512GB × 3
  3. Maximum disk per server is 250GB, 16 CPU threads each desktop, RAM configurations can be customized.

8. Is it possible to download training recording videos?

  1. Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. Audio is captured from the training room, so voice recording is included in the video

9. Which browser should I use for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work flawlessly
  2. Other browsers such as Internet Explorer are not fully supported

10. Why am I experiencing significant lag when using DaDesktop?

  1. Examine your network connection; DaDesktop's performance depends on your local connection speed
  2. Check your server location: when the coordinator creates the desktop, they always pick a server close to the participants
  3. Disable your VPN, or switch it to PAC mode. Also, please turn off any security applications, particularly those that interfere with WebSocket operation which is essential for smooth DaDesktop operation.

11. Why is WebSocket blocked or unsupported on my network?

Accessing Remote Desktop depends on WebSocket

  1. This could be your device which is blocking it. Check settings/configurations that disable WebSocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, within proxy settings, if the "Use the same proxy for all protocols" option is enabled, WebSocket won't work (because it sets the "SOCKS host" with a proxy.). Turn that off, and clear the "SOCKS host" field. This should resolve the issue.
  2. The problem might also be on the network side, not your device. You will need to contact your network administrator to ask them to unblock WebSocket.

12. Do you offer GPU support for 3D applications, etc.?

  1. Please see this GPU page for information regarding GPU support

13. Are there any known issues or solutions?

  1. Generally, using DaDesktop is the same as using any normal Windows or Linux machine, but you might come across a few small issues when using particular software applications in a training environment, especially relating to cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation?

  1. No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation; this is largely due to licensing concerns that are frequently raised.
